Should we be so prim?

Recently I've experienced one of the possibly worst situation at reception and I want to share it. Some weeks ago I had quite calm afternoon at work. I was happy because I felt very badly, like fever, throatache and so on... After two hours two ladies came to the reception, one of them said her surname, sure that there was her booking. Well... I started to look for her surname on the list of coming guests but, to my enormous fear,  there wasn't... I said her that there should be any mistake because I can't see her last name. What is more, the hotel was full, I had no free room to let them sleep there. It turned out that somebody made a mistake: our staff or she. The point is that there WAS booking for her but for the next day... (maybe the date was wrong but there is big difference between 30rd of November and 1st of December I think...). Should I describe their fury? That was the moment when I started to think if I'll end my shift alive or not... Well, situations li

How to be more organized?

Nowadays everywhere we can hear something about good organization and how important it is in our daily life. There are a lot of books with recpies how to be more organized and what benefits it brings. There are lists of advices how to reach great organization goals. Maybe all of them are true but I have just one position on my list. Go to the reception, of course 😉 When I started my work, first weeks were totally desorganized. I was doing my things without planning and thinking. That was why I felt totally uncomfortable. When you work as receptionist, you just cannot leave things to do "for later". This is kind of job where you just can't predict what will happen in one hour. At my hotel, apart from the reception desk of course, we also serve our guests some kinds of coffee, tea and we have various cakes to sell. Is is small and cosy cafe. So when you've got a moment when nothing is happening and you have something to do, for example, an invoice, and you think &qu

Looking pretty at work?! No... not only!

Hellooo everyone! So November's in progress! I've came here just to show you funny pic that I've found somewhere on the internet. Look! Haha! No, it's truly not like that. Trust me. Last weekend I spent about  fourteen hours at work: 8 during the night shift, 3 sleeping (yesss, they let me sleep in one of the fabulous rooms for a while because I had to be at out meeting later <3 ) and 3,5 more being at training course organized by our manager for all of receptionists. The training was organized to improve our work and let us understand some mechanics of our registration system. So we will not be as in the picture I've added here :)                                              Have a nice week my Dears, see u later! :)

Exhausting October. I need holiday.

October was totally crazy. Now I feel tired as if I had been working for at least two months without any break. October was a month of changes. New things. New people. New experiences. It is amazing to have such a things in life but when all of them come at one time you’re finally like: what’s going on, where’s the secret camera?! In October I started to work in new hotel*** which is undeniably better than the previous one. I had to know new people, new rules, new atmosphere and get used to it. Although I liked it since start, situations like that are always a little bit stressful. What is more, I also started the second degree of studies at new university (because I had changed the subject) so I had to know new professors, new students and even a new building… The other matter is that each weekend (when normal people usually have a rest or something) I was busy. The hen party of my friend (I participated in organization!), visit at my home (that was quite nervous for

First meeting here and... first day at work! :)

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog about my everyday life! Firstly, I want to answer the main question: why have I decided to write about my job. The reason is quite simple: because I find it really interesting and funny. Sometimes I hate it. Nevertheless, mostly I just love it. I want to show why and when do I like it and when not. I think this kind of work is not for everyone and I will try to prove why. To start, I want to come back for a while to my first day at work. I started to work as receptionist some months ago... well, to be honest, almost five! I remember it clearly. I hadn't had any experience related with reception desk, even as a guest because every place I visit, I usually sleep at my friend's home... The thruth is that students save money everywhere ;) Thus, it was July when I started. The 1st of July, to be accurate. Night before Poland had a football match with Portugal and it was very important match for us, deciding if Poland's representation w
