Multitasking

Good evening! Today I've got a video about my lovely job. It is simple nad shows a little bit how does it really look like in reality. HOTEL  - click here to watch! I want to find something more funny or more...well something that shows any kind of embarassing situations. It is the most interesting, I guess. I've started to think recently how it is in receptions in other places like... spa or something. There also is reception, right? I must go and see. Good opportunity to visit SPA, by the way! :) I want to share some thoughts about people who live too fast to even think about what are they exactly doing. It is also related with my job and style of life a little bit... I've got a lot things to do, at work and at home, so sometims I just don't know if I exactly have done this or that. And I want to just get rid of being "multitasking" but... is it possible ? Maybe it is and the point is to have a good thoughts? As I have observed, people start to as...

What is the connection between reception and jogging?

I like my work mostly because of people that I'm meeting. During my last shitf some days ago, it turned out that one coming guest is a runner (veery talkative, open-minded and nice man!). He started to tell me why he came to Poznan and also to describe me his passion of running. Luckily, I am into sport too, I love to do excercise and do jogging, and even fitness or pilates at home (I MUST add also bikes, tennis and swimming!). While doing any kind of excercise I feel that I love the way I live :) Beautiful impression. The guest and I had a very inspiring discuss. We focused on jogging. Both of us agreed that there are two ways of thinking about jogging: you can love it or hate it. Some people considers that they run only when somebody pursues them. Nevertheless, if you do jogging with passion your body will fall in love with you soon – because of advantages that jogging brings to our daily life. The first advantage of regular jogging is the level of endorphin that is kept hig...

New Year and new plans?

Obraz
I've realized that Id haven't asked anybody about their decisions or plans for 2017. I like do it, despite the fact that I usually don't make plans like: I'm going do lose weight, I'm going to be nicer (I am, thou), I'm going to be going to do more things, I'm going to have more plans and I'm going to BE HAPPY (it is something that makes me smile the most). Well, I usually don't make any plans. It is not because I never carry out the plan I made and I've just decided to give up for the rest of my life, it is because if I want to do something more in my life, to try something new or change something, I do it almost immediately. Really. I never wait until the next Monday or New Year. Maybe to next hour... but it is not as perfect solution as it seems to be. Sometimes I introduce a lot of chaos in my life taking up new activities. Finally I don't know what to focus on. Funny. But I must admit that I accept it and I like it. I'm never bo...

Is hotel a good place to spend Christmas there?

I know it's already after Christmas... but recently I've started to wonder if hotel is a good place to spend Christmas. Why are there a lot of people traveling during Christmas time, why are they leaving their cosy houses for this beautiful time and go where the weather is hot? Or move to other city? Is it because of the loneliness? What about people who are leving their families for Christmas? I've heard about this, even in my family... I know for sure that there is a lot of reasons of traveling instead of preparing Christmas tree or buying gifts. At hotels there are christmas trees also. And the rest of that stuff. Nevertheless, there's no this specific, magical atmosphere... even if receptionists are kind and nice, and professional... I've happily spent my Christmas at home with my family. I cooked, cleaned, helped my mother, sang carols... And I was possibly the happiest no-traveling peson on the world :)

Should we be so prim?

Recently I've experienced one of the possibly worst situation at reception and I want to share it. Some weeks ago I had quite calm afternoon at work. I was happy because I felt very badly, like fever, throatache and so on... After two hours two ladies came to the reception, one of them said her surname, sure that there was her booking. Well... I started to look for her surname on the list of coming guests but, to my enormous fear,  there wasn't... I said her that there should be any mistake because I can't see her last name. What is more, the hotel was full, I had no free room to let them sleep there. It turned out that somebody made a mistake: our staff or she. The point is that there WAS booking for her but for the next day... (maybe the date was wrong but there is big difference between 30rd of November and 1st of December I think...). Should I describe their fury? That was the moment when I started to think if I'll end my shift alive or not... Well, situations li...

How to be more organized?

Nowadays everywhere we can hear something about good organization and how important it is in our daily life. There are a lot of books with recpies how to be more organized and what benefits it brings. There are lists of advices how to reach great organization goals. Maybe all of them are true but I have just one position on my list. Go to the reception, of course 😉 When I started my work, first weeks were totally desorganized. I was doing my things without planning and thinking. That was why I felt totally uncomfortable. When you work as receptionist, you just cannot leave things to do "for later". This is kind of job where you just can't predict what will happen in one hour. At my hotel, apart from the reception desk of course, we also serve our guests some kinds of coffee, tea and we have various cakes to sell. Is is small and cosy cafe. So when you've got a moment when nothing is happening and you have something to do, for example, an invoice, and you think ...

Looking pretty at work?! No... not only!

Obraz
Hellooo everyone! So November's in progress! I've came here just to show you funny pic that I've found somewhere on the internet. Look! Haha! No, it's truly not like that. Trust me. Last weekend I spent about  fourteen hours at work: 8 during the night shift, 3 sleeping (yesss, they let me sleep in one of the fabulous rooms for a while because I had to be at out meeting later <3 ) and 3,5 more being at training course organized by our manager for all of receptionists. The training was organized to improve our work and let us understand some mechanics of our registration system. So we will not be as in the picture I've added here :)                                              Have a nice week my Dears, see u later! :)
