Nights at work



A lot of people hearing that I have night shift tell me „Oh, so you are very bored, aren’t you?”. Well, I am not actually. What are my duties during the night shift?
First of all, the most important task is to make all of reports properly. Count money. See if everything with the cash is okay. It may seems easy but when it’s 3 pm and you want to sleep, your eyes are like the flag of Poland, both white and red, then you are likely to get 5 or -3 while adding 2+2…
Next task is to bring goods from the magazine. Simple, physical work. You are going to the magazine to bring, for instance, 3 bottles of apple juice, 4 bottles of red semi-dry wines and some beers. Then you are coming back to the reception with some packs of red tea, 1 bottle of orange juice and…beers? What beers?
It is also important to clean the café and bar. This is really good activity and I like doing it because when it is 4 or 5 pm and I feel like zombie (I feel very cold when I’m tired) it is perfect opportunity to move a little bit without thinking. I like it.
Sometimes I have to solve life-problems of some lost guests that can’t sleep and HAVE TO talk to somebody (yes, even to tired receptionist who only dreams about killing this guest or even herself). Or I should help them to turn on the TV. I have to say that the dress she has already bought is very sexy. I have to repair pilots. Listen. Talk. Be nice all the time. Don’t kill.
The list is longer but it’s not about enumerating duties. It is just an answer to the question: are night shifts as boring as I imagine?

Well, definetly not.

An interesting meeting

Do you remember the Spanish businessmen from my last post? Today I would like to describe a meeting with them. They ended their travel in Poznan, the last meeting they had in Pniewy. They invited Agata (she went with them as a translator) and me to the supper on the Old Square in Poznan. I decided to go with them to Gospoda Poznanska so they could try some local delicacies. It was an evening rich in tastes, cultures, impressions and languages. They were describing their feelings about Poland, it was their first time here and their opinion surprised me because they were truly amazed. I think Poland is beautiful, we’ve got very rich culture, good music, tasty food, polish people are friendly, open-minded and well-educated and I really appreciate my country, but I wouldn’t think that Poland could make such a huge impact on people from Andalusia which is magnificant!! How I became a burglar

Tuesday. Normal day. At 7:20 in the morning I come to the office.  On Tuesday I’m always first at office. I always open the door with the key, enter the room and put a special code to unlock the alarm. With calm I turn on the computer, I prepare coffee and open the windows. Last Tuesday, while doing this things, I suddenly heared an unbearable voice of the intercome. Surprising: it was too early for any client or guest. I opened the door and there was coming a man dressed in black uniform with security label on his chest. “We’ve recived a report about burglary” he said and looked at me suspiciously. He eyed me up. I felt uncomfortable and surprised. “Eee…” I said. “I’m not a burglar…” Well, I don’t look like a burglar. It was quite funny situation for me but the funniest one was this man acting like he was an anti-terrorist and has already caught me red-handed. Until today I don’t know why he came there. First meeting here and... first day at work! :)

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog about my everyday life! Firstly, I want to answer the main question: why have I decided to write about my job. The reason is quite simple: because I find it really interesting and funny. Sometimes I hate it. Nevertheless, mostly I just love it. I want to show why and when do I like it and when not. I think this kind of work is not for everyone and I will try to prove why. To start, I want to come back for a while to my first day at work. I started to work as receptionist some months ago... well, to be honest, almost five! I remember it clearly.
